cool dude

My memory of Jim Sheldon was his first day on the job at the Abington YMCA.

It just happened to be a Wednesday and we had a meeting scheduled for the Branch Executives at the Holiday Inn on Market St. in Philadelphia. We other Executives had heard that the new Exec. from Abington was starting that day, so during the coffee and donut time prior to the meeting, I was sort of looking to the door for the new guy. At once this cool dude in a blue leisure suit, blonde hair and a sun tan from playing Volleyball on Dewey Beach appeared. That day I met Jim Sheldon, the coolest of them all. A good friend for over 25 years who taught me that "Caring for People" was the basis of our work in the YMCA.
